Whether for the cozy warm fire in the fireplace at home or the campfire in front of the tent - the practical Böker Plus Appalachian Origin Mini Ax should never be missing as a compact and versatile hatchet for camping and home use. As with the other models in the series, the Rhenish-shaped ax head is made of 1055 carbon steel. There are also three main differences: While the Small and Big models have robust and universal ax grinds, the edge of the Origin Mini Ax has a polished knife grind, which also enables utility carving work such as feathering sticks. Furthermore, the ax head is left with a rough forged surface. Finally, long-grain ash wood is used for the style, which, unlike hickory, transmits fewer vibrations to the ax-wielding hand. At the time when stoves in the house were still fueled with wood, this type of ax was used to chop small firewood, as is also needed for outdoor cooking fires. The older trade name "kitchen hatchet” comes from this time.
